1973: Hall of Fame hockey center Peter Forsberg, considered one of the greatest players of his generation, is born in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden. He played 13 years in the National Hockey League where he won two Stanley Cups with the Colorado Avalanche. He also played for the Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators in his career and won Olympic gold medals representing Sweden in 1994 and 2006.
