1941: Folk singer and guitarist Richie Havens, known for soulful covers of pop and folk songs, and his opening performance at the 1969 Woodstock Festival, is born in Brooklyn, N.Y. Havens, who died of a heart attack at age 72 on April 22, 2013, is seen here in 1972.
