1976: Blues singer and musician Howlin' Wolf, known for such blues standards as "Smokestack Lightnin'," "Little Red Rooster," "Back Door Man," "Killing Floor" and "Spoonful," dies from complications of kidney disease at the age of 65 in Hines, Ill.
