1978: Escaped mass murderer Ted Bundy is recaptured in Pensacola, Florida, after being on the loose since escaping from a Colorado jail on Dec. 30, 1977. Bundy committed multiple additional assaults, including three murders, before his recapture. Shortly before his execution in January 1989, he would confess to 30 homicides committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978, although the true total remains unknown.
