2014: Actor and singer Edward Herrmann dies of brain cancer at age 71 in New York City. Perhaps best known for playing Richard Gilmore on the TV series "Gilmore Girls" from 2000 to 2007, his career also included Emmy-nominated portrayals of Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1970s TV movies "Eleanor and Franklin" and "Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years," character performances in movies such as "Annie," "The Lost Boys" and "Harry's War," and recurring TV roles on "St. Elsewhere" and "The Practice."
