1978: Singer-songwriter, trumpet player, actor, and bandleader Louis Prima dies at age 67 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He had been in a coma since suffering a cerebral hemorrhage three years earlier following surgery to remove a brain stem tumor. Some of Prima's most memorable songs include "Sing Sing Sing" and "Jump, Jive and Wail," and he also voiced the character of King Louie and sang the song "I Wanna Be Like You" in the 1967 Disney movie "The Jungle Book."
