1990: Actress and singer Pearl Bailey, best known for her Broadway work and roles in movies like "Carmen Jones," "Porgy and Bess" and "St. Louis Blues," dies of arteriosclerotic coronary artery disease at age 72 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bailey also had her own television show during the 1970s and provided voices for animated works such as "Tubby the Tuba" and Disney's "The Fox and the Hound."
