PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Criminal charges were filed today against a Palm Springs doctor accused of sexual battery against an 18-year-old female volunteer at the clinic where he worked.
Daniel Glywn Walters, 66, facesfive misdemeanor counts of sexual battery, with arraignment scheduled May 2 at the Larson Justice Center, according to court records.
Walters was arrested March 7 at his place of employment, SleepWise Sleep and Behavioral Medicine Center at 1801 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
The alleged victim, whose name was withheld, contacted police to claim that Walters had "committed sexual battery upon her" on March 5 and 6 while she volunteered as an extern at SleepWise, according to a police statement. The statement didn't elaborate on the alleged offenses.
The woman started volunteering at the center on March 4, police said.
Walters is free on a $3,500 bond.
