RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - A small business is growing in the Coachella Valley. Folks gathered for Jadabug's Kids Boutique's grand opening Saturday afternoon at The River in Rancho Mirage.
It's the second location in the desert. Owner, Heidi McArthur turned the debut of her second store into a fundraiser for 5-year-old Riley Rose Sherman of La Quinta.
"Twenty percent of our proceeds are going to the Sherman family. I used to nanny for the Sherman's. I had Riley and her little brother, Matthew," McArthur said.
Riley has been battling a pediatric cancer called neuroblastoma for more than a year now.
"They're very close to my heart, near and dear to me," McArthur said.
Four-time boxing world champion, Timothy Bradley, was one of the supporters of the opening and fundraiser. He was signing his new book, a biography aimed to inspire young readers.
"The guys that I looked up to and admired on my rise up, I would've read the book from front to back. Me, being local, home grown, I think it's a great book for the kids to pick up and read and get kids to read a little bit more," Bradley said.
