PALM SPRING, Calif. -

A battle is heating up in Palm Springs over the proposed Dolce Hotel.

The 200-room hotel would be built on more than 10.5 acres and sit on a  parking lot on the north side of the Palm Springs Convention Center.  It will also be next to the Center Court Club, a 20-unit condo complex.  Since a good portion of the hotel will stand over 50 feet tall, people living in the complex aren't happy about how the hotel will change their sight lines.

"It will be like a half circle, that's basically going to be 50 to 58 feet in height.  That's basically going to close us in," said Steve Harris, a Center Court Club resident.  "It's going to take away of course the beautiful views here we have of the mountain, but even more so, our sunlight in the winter time."

Condo residents are also upset they weren't notified by the city that the planning commission had approved the hotel project without their input.

The Dolce Hotel project is on Wednesday's City Council agenda.

City Attorney Doug Holland said he'll recommend council members delay voting on the project.
