Sakar International announced a recall of its Digital Concepts Compact Travel Charger after it was determined that plastic holding the screws in place can break, causing the casing to separate and expose users to electrocution or electric shock.
In a news release, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said it has not received any reports of the charger falling apart or of electrocution or electric shock injuries being reported.
The company said the recall involves item Nos. CH-1600S and CH-1600-RS which are identified with the date code MID#: 0801110. Both numbers can be found on a white label on the underside of the charger.
About 48,000 chargers were sold at Cobra Digital, Lot-Less, Ocean State Jobbers and RadioShack from January 2011 through February 2012 for about $10.
Consumers were urged to immediately stop using the recalled battery charger and to contact Sakar International at 877-397-8200 for a replacement product.
