5. $3.5 Billion: Sumitomo Corp.- In 1995, Japanese financial giant Sumitomo Corporation’s top copper trader, Yasuo Hamanaka, was discovered to be illegally covering up $2.6 billion in trading losses. Hamanaka admitted to charges of forgery and fraud in court and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
