PALM SPRINGS, Calif.- - Former U.S. Representative Mary Bono is throwing her support behind Dan Ball in his campaign to become the next Congressman serving California's 36th District. She finds Ball to be the "strongest Republican candidate" to oppose incumbent Rep. Paul Ruiz in the upcoming November election.
“I have known Dan for many years. He is honest, hardworking and will be the leader our district so desperately needs in Washington," stated Bono in the release. "I am proud to offer my full endorsement of his campaign."
Ball sits in a Republican field which includes newcomer Kimberlin Brown, who was acknowledged by Bono in her release.
"Kimberlin, having just relocated to the district, certainly brings a new voice to the race. I applaud her for deciding to get involved but knowing a congressional district is of highest importance and Dan has that knowledge and experience.”
The Democratic party is not fielding any candidates against Ruiz in the upcoming election. Ball announced his planned run for Congress back in October.
“I’m proud to have the endorsement of Mary Bono in my campaign for Congress,” said Dan Ball. “Mary has been a community leader, a national leader and public servant for 30 years I hope to continue her public service in Congress.”
Bono represented California's 44th district from 1998 to 2003, and California's 45th district from 2003 to 2013.
