A Banning man poured gasoline in his house, locked his girlfriend inside, then threatened to it on fire, police said today.
Amador Dean Bates, 37, was arrested in a foot chase near the home in the 900 block of West Cottonwood Road Sunday night.
Banning police got a report of what was happening about 9:55 p.m. Sunday, according to Banning police who said Bates said ``he was going to set the residence on fire with his girlfriend trapped inside.''
Police forced the door open and found the woman unharmed, then chased down Bates on foot, according to a department statement.
Bates was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and posted $5,000 bond on Monday, according to jail records.
