Man robbed at gunpoint in Palm Springs
A 58-year-old Palm Springs resident suspected of robbing a man at gunpoint in Palm Springs was behind bars today.
Fennin Clay Walton was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of North Palm Canyon Drive, 10 minutes after the robbery was reported on North Palm Canyon and Gateway Drive, according to police and jail records.
A 22-year-old Palm Springs resident was walking on Gateway when a vehicle stopped next to him, and a passenger got out and displayed a handgun, Palm Springs police Sgt. Harvey Reed said.
``The passenger ... took money from the victim and got back inside the vehicle, which then drove away from the area,'' Reed said.
Officers found a vehicle matching the description of the suspects' car in the parking lot of a business at Racquet Club Road and North Palm Canyon and detained three people, including Walton, Reed said.
A woman identified as Gina Maria Lee was allegedly found with drug paraphernalia and was cited and released. The third person was also released at the scene, Reed said.
Walton was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, with bail set at $30,000, according to jail records.
