INDIO, Calif. - A man accused of killing his 70-year-old sister in her La Quinta home pleaded not guilty today to murder and conspiracy charges.
James Charles Oudin, a 73-year-old Lakewood resident, is charged along with Wesley Elwin Gibbs Jr., a 46-year-old Hesperia resident, in connection with the death of Oudin's sister, Judy Munson, whose body was found June 11.
Gibbs pleaded not guilty Friday, but Oudin's arraignment was rescheduled for today because he had to be transported from Riverside.
Oudin's wife, 73-year-old Madelyn Alexis Oudin of Lakewood, was arrested Friday on suspicion of being an accessory to the crime, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Oudin was arrested Thursday in Lakewood and Gibbs was arrested Wednesday in a remote area of eastern San Bernardino County, according to sheriff's Sgt. Herman Lopez.
Sheriff's officials have not released details on how the woman died, or how her brother and Gibbs were allegedly tied to the killing. Oudin and Gibbs were being held without bail, and both are due back in court Aug. 23 for a felony settlement conference.
