LA QUINTA, Calif. -

A 35-year-old La Quinta man suspected of driving a golf cart under the influence of alcohol was free on bail Tuesday.

Sheriff's deputies responded to PGA West in the 55900 block of PGA Boulevard in La Quinta around 5:30 p.m. Sunday after an ``intoxicated passenger on the golf cart fell out while the golf cart was in motion,'' Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Jessica Vanderhoof said.

She said an investigation ``revealed that the driver of the golf cart was intoxicated as well.'' The passenger was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, and driver Jeffrey Sam Rose was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into the county jail in Indio.

Rose posted a $2,500 bond on Monday and is expected to be arraigned in March at Indio's Larson Justice Center, according to jail records.

Sunday was the last day of the Humana Challenge golf tournament at PGA West.
