PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

A 26-year-old burglary suspect, arrested for allegedly burglarizing a Palm Springs home and carrying away items in a trash can, was behind bars today.

Palm Springs resident Mark Anthony Scott was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Sunday near Cielo Vista Elementary School on South Paseo Dorotea, about 20 minutes after a burglary was reported at a home in the 3900 block of Calle San Antonio, according to Palm Springs police and jail records.

A resident said he saw someone moving inside a nearby home and appear at the front door with ``numerous'' items, Sgt. Harvey Reed said.

``The resident reported the subject then took a trash can from the curb and placed the property inside of it,'' Reed said. ``According to the resident, the subject walked away from the home taking the trash can containing the property with him.''

Police found Scott near the elementary school with the trash can filled with items, Reed said.

Scott was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning and was being held in lieu of $35,000 bail, according to jail records.
