PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

Police arrested a Palm Springs man Monday after a fight at a public storage facility led to someone being shot in the arm, according to authorities.

Police responded to the storage facility on  the 700 block of Vella Road in Palm Springs after they received a report that a man had been shot in the arm at the location. When they arrived, the 43-year-old victim told them he had gotten in an argument with another man over ownership of property.

The argument led to a physical altercation. The victim ended up trying to run away, and when he did, the suspect "brandished a handgun and shot him," according to a report from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office.

The victim provided a description of the suspect and police located 54-year-old Lance Lee Ohlert five minutes later on the 700 block of Williams Road.

Ohlert was arrested on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

Ohlert was transported to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
