DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. -

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow on the body of a woman found dead at the scene of a fire at an abandoned Desert Hot Springs residence, authorities said.

The blaze was reported around 8:30 a.m. today at a boarded-up, 800-square-foot home in the 66200 block of Pierson Boulevard. The blaze was contained 15 minutes later, Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Mark Annas said.

The woman's city of residence was unknown, and her name was withheld pending family notification, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Brent Sechrist said. He said an autopsy was scheduled for tomorrow.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, Annas said.
