PALM DESERT, Calif. -

Heat rises and so will our desert temperatures. Cal Fire urges Coachella Valley neighbors and visitors to take precautions and be prepared.
Battalion Chief Rick Griggs says the latest trend for disaster is hikers hitting desert trails unprepared and without water.

"With the heat that's coming and the heat we've been experiencing, we're seeing more calls for dehydration as a result of that," said Griggs.

Griggs warned that mistake can come at a major financial cost and could potentially be deadly.

Cal Fire urges you to train your body. It could take three to six weeks to get acclimated.
