THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. - Former Coachella Valley news anchor Dan Ball is announcing he's running for the 36th Congressional District.
Ball sat down for an interview with CBS Local 2 This Morning's Tom Tucker Monday morning and said, "When I moved to the Valley in 1996 and I've been here on and off for the last 21 years. It's been something where it's kind of been brewing inside where I've wanted to serve again."
According to Ball's LinkedIn account, he worked with News Channel 3 for four years back in 2000 to 2004. He then anchored for CBS Local 2 in 2004 to 2008. And went to work for three other stations, including KMIR from 2015 to February of this year.
The 36th Congressional District is currently represented by Dr. Raul Ruiz (D-CA).
Last week, longtime actress and small business owner, Kimberlin Brown Pelzer, also announced she's running for Congress.
Congressman Ruiz's campaign consultant released a statement on the two opponents.
"Voters will have a clear choice between Dr. Ruiz's proven record of public service and helping local families, versus two wannabe politicians who will simply contribute to far-right extremism and partisan gridlock in Washington," said Roy Behr, Dr. Ruiz's campaign consultant.
