INDIO, Calif. - Our very first One Class At A Time award goes to Mrs. Washak's 4th-grade class at Mountain Vista Elementary School!
Mrs. Washak's focus is on S.T.E.A.M. learning - science, technology, engineering, art, and math. This $500 will help these kids do even more unique projects.
"Everything from building something that can float, building a project out of things that can be recycled, coding task, where students have to code. We're working on roller coasters," Mrs. Washak said.
"The roller coasters we're learning force and motion. It's always push or pull," Ismael Martinez Garcia said. "I'm really lucky I got this teacher. I like, I enjoy the projects we do and I enjoy making them with my family."
"I have felt bad about the fact that teachers are underpaid and teachers are underappreciated. I decided to be involved in this project so we can see S.T.E.A.M. and Teresa's projects get recognized. Hopefully, through KESQ we will see more of the same and encourage others to do projects like this," Walter Clark of Walter Clarke Legal Group said.
A fun morning of S.T.E.A.M. projects ended with a nice read about a powerful woman scientist who overcame many no's before she achieved her goal.
Now we'll pick another school next month! To apply to be the June winner of the 'One Class At A Time' award, fill out a nomination form here.
