Oak Glen fire grows to 99 acres, 70% containment

OAK GLEN, Calif. - Firefighters were still working Thursday morning to contain a 99-acre wildfire just east of Oak Glen in San Bernardino County, according to Cal Fire.

The fire, which is now 70% contained, has stopped spreading forward and structures are no longer threatened. 

The fire was reported at 2 p.m. Wednesday and threatened two structures. Fire crews closed off Oak Glen Road between Oak Crest Road and Wild Wood Canyon. Drivers were urged to find an alternate route.

Ground and air support were being used to fight the "Oak Fire."

22 engines, 6 hand crews, 4 water tenders, 5 dozers, 4 air tankers, 3 helicopters and 1 air attack.

The fire's cause was under investigation. but the California Highway Patrol was looking into the possibility a vehicle crash could have sparked the fire, according to Cal Fire Division Chief Jeff Veik.

There was no information on any injuries from the crash. The area where the crash occurred had several abandoned vehicles.
