DIRECTV and Gulf California Broadcasting Come To An Agreement
KESQ, CBS Local 2, KDFX, KCWQ, KUNA Has Been Restored
Gulf California Broadcasting is pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with DirecTV to restore our stations’ signals on that satellite service.
Gulf California Broadcasting owns KESQ (ABC), CBS Local 2 (CBS), KDFX (FOX), KCWQ (CW) and KUNA (Telemundo). The stations have been blacked out on DirecTV since October 9th when News-Press and Gazette Broadcasting (parent company of Gulf California Broadcasting) and DirecTV reached an impasse in negotiations.
NPG and DirecTV both agreed to temporarily lift the blackout to allow subscribers to watch the first two games of the World Series and now all programming is restored.
Mike Stutz, General Manager of Gulf California Broadcasting thanked viewers for their patience and support. “We regret the inconvenience this blackout caused but we are happy that our viewers who subscribe to DirecTV will once again be able to watch our local newscasts and the quality programming that all of our stations provide.”
Service to DirecTV subscribers has resumed.
