DHSHS hosts 2nd annual College Kick-Off event

Desert Hot Springs High School hosts 2nd

DESETR HOT SPRINGS, Calif. - The second annual ‘College Kick-Off’ event took place Wednesday at Desert Hot Springs High School.

The day was chalk full of activities for students in all grades to prepare for their next stage in academic career.

High School freshmen took a virtual tour of different colleges. Sophomores and juniors practiced SAT's, while seniors started working on applications for college.

Erica Watson, DHSHS's Assistant Vice Principal, said that the event helps to ensure no student is left behind as there is only one school counselor for every 500 students.
“Just to give them the resources that they need. Talk about college, talk about careers they want to get into and give them that one-on-one attention that they don’t necessarily get every day,” Watson said.

The day also included guest speakers from different industries, like Renewable Energy Banking, and a more traditional career fair.
