PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs hosted a reunion luncheon for neo-natal intensive care unit alumni Saturday.
There was face painting, games, performers and food, all to celebrate children who were once treated in the NICU. Families were reunited with nurses, physicians and other parents who share a NICU connection.
"It's the one time in the year where we get to meet back with families that we've gotten to know so well over the years. Families that went through critical times with their babies when they were very sick in our nursery and it's wonderful to see families pull back together healthy, stable and happy," said NICU Director, Dr. Bob Piecuch.
Desert Regional Medical Center's NICU is the desert's only neonatal intensive care unit, serving the desert for more than 25 years.
