Deputies search for suspect after attempted kidnapping

Incident happened Thursday at 2:07 p.m. in Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Calif. - The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is searching for a suspect who allegedly tried to kidnap someone in Whitewater Thursday afternoon.

The incident was reported at 2:07 p.m. in the area of Tamarack Road and Rushmore Avenue.

According to an alert sent out on Nixle, deputies are looking for a man who is about 35 years old with scraggly brown hair. They reported that he may be wearing glasses as well.

Authorities didn't have anymore details about the man's description, but as he was fleeing the scene, he backed into a fence which may have caused damage to the right rear of his Jeep, deputies reported.

The suspect was driving a black, four-door Jeep Cherokee, with a large 'box type' roof rack, extending the full length of the Jeep.

Authorities are expected to release more information about the incident soon.
