A Yucca Valley man is in jail after being arrested for animal cruelty.

Morongo Basin Sheriff's Deputies said it happened just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, when they responded to a call of a man kicking his German Shepherd puppy down the street.

When deputies arrived at the man's home in the 7000 block of Barberry Avenue, they allegedly saw Charles Lathrop, 60,  holding down the puppy on the ground and hitting it with his fist inside his garage.
