Baby found in car in Palm Springs Walmart parking lot

The baby's mother was arrested for child endangerment.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Palm Springs Police arrested a Desert Hot Springs woman on Wednesday evening after they say she left her 3-month old baby boy inside a car in the Walmart parking lot.

The woman was located by police and arrested on charges of child endangerment just before 7:00 p.m.

Police say Selena Gastelo left the child in the locked car with the air conditioning running for about 20 minutes while she went inside the store on Ramon Road to shop.

The baby was unharmed.

Police officers took the baby into their care until he could be given to a "responsible party," said Sgt. William Hutchinson.
