The hiring process is beginning for those interested in working at the new Walmart in Coachella opening this spring.
Officials said a temporary hiring center has opened at 48220 Jackson Street, Suite A-3. The hiring center is located in the same shopping center as the future store.
Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The new store will be hiring both full time and part time employees. Walmart officials said the company offers benefits such as health care packages and matching 401 K contributions.
The new Walmart Neighborhood Market is looking to hire around 65 employees.
"As one of the largest employers in Riverside County, Walmart is a tremendous asset for our region," said Tom Flavin, CEO, Coachella Valley Economic Partnership. "We are excited to soon welcome the store to Coachella, along with the jobs and new economic opportunities it will bring."
The new store will be located at the intersection of Avenue 48 and Jackson Street. It will be the first Walmart in Coachella.
Officials said it's taking over retail space that's been vacant for over two years.
