The California Highway Patrol in Indio will offer a free ``Smart Start'' teen driver class tonight for parents and teenagers.
The 6:30 p.m. class at the CHP's Indio office at 79-650 Varner Road includes information designed to help teenagers become better equipped to handle situations behind the wheel, according to the CHP.
The class starts with a ``Red Asphalt 5'' video -- a CHP-produced documentary depicting crashes and their aftermath -- and photos from local collisions in which people died. The class then transitions to driving basics and tips, according to the CHP.
Reservations are required, and participating teens must be accompanied by a parent. Teens who finish the class receive a certificate.
