Cathedral City is exploring the idea of opening cannabis lounges.
After reviewing Palm Springs' ordinance on the subject matter, Cathedral City held a study session earlier this week to discuss the possibility of opening lounges.
One council member says they could provide an alternative location for people to use marijuana.
"There are people who won't be able to utilize cannabis in their home environment locations. There are also visitors to the city that won't be able to utilize it in various locations, where they may be staying and so it just seems logical to be able to provide opportunities for them to safely use their cannabis products," said Cathedral City Councilmember Shelly Kaplan.
City staff will prepare recommendations for the council to review.
