RIVERSIDE, Calif. -

A convicted felon accused of killing two Moreno Valley seniors for whom he worked as a caregiver was charged today with two counts of first-degree murder and other felonies.

Drew Colston Stelp, 51, was arrested Monday afternoon in connection with the double homicide that occurred at a house owned by one of the victims in the 24000 block of Bay Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Along with the murder counts, Stelp is charged with burglary, two counts each of attempted murder and robbery and a sentence-enhancing allegation of taking multiple lives in the same crime, which could make him eligible for the death penalty if convicted.

The defendant, who was being held without bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside, was slated to make his initial court appearance this afternoon.
