Coachella, Calif. - If you are looking for something to do today, why not spend part of your day at the brand new Rancho Las Flores Park. The city of Coachella will be holding a community celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. (Saturday) morning.
The park is located at the corner of Van Buren and Avenue 48 in Coachella. The state-of-the-art park includes 3 soccer fields, 2 basketball courts, and walking path which include exercise stations.
This is Coachella newest park to be built in 38 years.
In 2011, the city won a state wide competition for parks and recreation grand funding and was awarded $5 million to design to and build the first phase of the park.
The City is waiting to see if they will receive another $5 million in April to help pay for the rest of the 29 acre park.
