CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. -

A billboard designed by a local eighth-grader will be unveiled in Cathedral City tomorrow.

Nellie Coffman Middle School student Alecea Lerma won Lamar Advertising's "Help Shape the Community" contest, and her drawing will be unveiled on a billboard Tuesday morning on Date Palm Drive just south of Vista Chino.

The ceremony is scheduled for 8 a.m. Palm Springs Unified School District spokeswoman Joan Boiko said Nellie Coffman eighth-grade math teacher John Stevens helped choose the top submissions for the contest.
