BEAUMONT, Calif. - A Beaumont High School English teacher is in custody accused of a lewd act on a 16-year-old female student.
On Sept. 25 San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Crimes Against Children Detail received a written report about the lewd act taking place at or near the suspect's home.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies say 37-year-old Chris Austin -- also known as Christina Jacobson -- was placed on leave by school administrators when they learned of the allegations.
Austin moved out of her residence and her whereabouts were unknown.
The investigation led detectives to believe Austin had illegal sexual contact with the minor within the San Bernardino County Sheriff's jurisdiction.
Detectives submitted the case to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office and obtained an arrest warrant for Austin on September 27 for Sexual Penetration of a Minor, and Oral Copulation of a Minor.
The Specialized Enforcement Division assisted the investigating detectives and located her during a traffic stop in the La Canada/Flintridge area.
Austin was taken into custody for the arrest warrant and transported to the West Valley Detention Center for booking.
She is held on $500,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
This is the second Beaumont High School teacher to be arrested for allegedly having sex with a student in the past month. On September 22, a Beaumont teacher who used to be a teacher at La Quinta High School was arrested for
