THOUSAND PALMS, Calif.- - The April Coachella Valley Spotlight recipient is Parkinson’s Resource Organization (PRO). The non-profit charitable organization provides group and individual support to those making the journey through Parkinson’s Disease.
“Parkinson’s Resource Organization has been enriching people’s lives for years, and we are happy to support them,” said Catharine Reed, Program Director for the H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation.
PRO offers support groups, workshops and other events to patients, family members and caregivers. PRO also partners with community healthcare providers and businesses that offer specialized services to people Parkinson's to create what they call a Wellness Village.
“We think that local is global and global is local,” said Jo Rosen, Founder and President of PRO. “Most people affected by Parkinson’s go through the same struggles and have similar needs. Researchers and wellness professionals all over the world are seeking relief for those diagnosed. The Wellness Village connects all of us in the journey of Parkinson’s until a cure is found.”
Rosen's husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1989, and since then, she has committed her life to helping others going through the same life changes and challenges.
The 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization operates by the mission statement, "Working so no one is isolated because of Parkinson’s disease. Since 1990, we help families affected by Parkinson’s, even if the family is one, and that one is the person with Parkinson’s."
