The man who made international headlines in February 2013 after waking up with amnesia in a Palm Springs Motel 6, has been found dead in Sweden.

According to the Swedish news outlet Bohuslaningen, Uddevalla City Newspaper , the death of Michael Boatwright isn't clear, but it's believed that it had something to do with a robbery.

In 2013, Boatwright was found unconscious in a hotel room in Palm Springs after suffering injuries to his head. He was a Florida-born U.S. Navy vet, but he had amnesia, so it was inexplicable as to why he could only speak Swedish upon waking up.

After recovering, Boatwright discovered that he had lived in Sweden for many years, which explained his ability to speak the language.

According to CNN, Boatwright had lived in Sweden off and on for about 20 years.

He went to Uddevalla in August of 2013 after a close friend from Sweden recognized him and offered to help. He traveled from Los Angeles to Goteborg Landvetetter Airport where he met Ewa Espling, a woman he had dated briefly in the 1980's, CNN reported.

No additional information surrounding his death was available.
