Why do stolen Hondas keep crashing into Palm Springs pot shops?
Yesterday, a stolen Honda Accord crashed into the front of a Palm Springs medical marijuana dispensary for the third time this month. Here's a rundown of what's happened:
Sunday, March 3rd, 5:05 A.M.: A stolen white Honda Accord intentionally backed into Desert Valley Treatments near the corner of Ramon and S Gene Autry, causing major damage to the front of the business. Nothing was stolen from the clinic, and the suspect fled in the vehicle.
Friday, March 8th, 4:35 A.M.: The same Honda Accord intentionally backed into the Desert Valley Treatments again, re-damaging to the building. The incident is almost identical to the first -- nothing was stolen. Only this time, the suspect drenched the car, inside and out, with a flammable liquid, but failed to ignite the car and no fire was ever started. The suspect was spotted running from the scene and was described as a male in his late teens or mid twenties.
Monday, March 18th, 2:08 A.M.: A stolen gray Honda Accord intentionally backed into THC of Palm Springs on N Palm Canyon Dr, causing major damage to the business. Once again, nothing was stolen. The suspect fled on foot and the car was recovered at the scene.
The similarity of the incidents leads one to believe they are related, and the Palm Springs Police Department agrees. However, they too are struggling to find a reason behind the events, and have asked the public for help. Anybody with information is asked to call PSPD Detective Marcus Litch at 760-323-8140 or Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP (7867).
