PALM DESERT, Calif. -

Two men were arrested today on suspicion of drunken driving in separate solo-vehicle wrecks in Palm Desert, a sheriff's sergeant said.

A Toyota Tundra driven by Javier Sanchez, 37, of Coachella, crossed Highway 111 into oncoming traffic, hit a curb and came to rest on the lawn in front of One West Bank on Town Center Way about 1:30 a.m., Sgt. Radek Horkel said.

Sanchez was checked out at a hospital and arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into county jail in Indio.

About 2:05 a.m., Camilo Gomez, 28, of Palm Desert, crashed a Ford Fiesta into a fire hydrant at Monterey Avenue and Parkview Drive, he said. Gomez was taken to a hospital, then booked and locked up on suspicion of drunken driving.
