Tilted Kilt reopens and looks to hire over 100 people
With resume in hand, Taylor Stein walked into the Courtyard Marriot in Palm Desert hoping to walk out with a job at the Tilted Kilt.
"I'm hoping for like a busser or server position. Eventually I want to be able to get my bartender's license and maybe move up to that," Taylor Stein said.
It'll be same Tilted Kilt you knew and loved with some former employees and the same menu.
"It's basically a sports pub. We have 51 inch TVs, we show all the football games, NFL and college, all the baseball games, Lakers games, every sport you can imagine, including UFC," Bryan Vandermeer, the Tilted Kilt General Manager, said.
There will be some changes.
"We have new owners right now, they came in from Canada. We completely redid the inside of the building. Brand new AC's on the roof, we have a brand new kitchen completely gutted the kitchen, and we're getting a 1300 square foot deck built outside," Vandermeer said.
In order to run all of that, the Tilted Kilt needs its staff.
"Were hiring all positions, looking for over 100 positions this weekend," Vandermeer said. "We're looking for server, bartender, barback, busser, line cook, prep cook, dish washer, and assistant managers."
Vandermeer called it a casting call.
"The girls are basically auditioning for a role to entertain you. As an entertainer, they'll be serving food and drinks as well," Vandermeer said.
He says, if you're applying, you should bring your resume and enthusiasm.
"It's definitely going to be a place the locals can rely on and be all year round," Vandermeer said.
As for the noise issue some people complained about in the restaurant's past, Vandermeer said, "That will be a non-issue. We're not going to have any live music outside. The ambient music outside will all be very low decibals."
The Tilted Kilt plans to reopen by mid October.
Saturday's casting call goes until 7:00 p.m. There will be another one on Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
