The city will unveil and dedicate a mural on Smurr Street today.
The ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the mural site -- the north wall of a building at 45-125 Smurr St. Denver muralist David Ocelotl Garcia, the artist, is expected to attend, city spokesman Chris Escobedo said.
The mural represents Indio's past, present and future "while reflecting the city's rich heritage through vibrant colors," Escobedo said.
It's the first mural commissioned by the city of Indio. The city has seven other other murals, which were initiated by the Indio Chamber of Commerce and supported by community members. The most recent mural was installed in 2002, Escobedo said.
