Rep. Raul Ruiz introduced his first bill, the SelectUSA Authorization Act of 2013, today in Washington. The legislation, which is part of the "Make it in America" plan in the U.S. House of Representatives, aims to provide incentives for global companies and investors to create jobs in the United States.
"America should be the premier place in the world to do business, and this bill will help increase our competitiveness in the global economy by recruiting international companies to our shores and providing incentives for investors to create high-quality jobs here at home," said Dr. Ruiz. "There are people all across the 36th District who are ready to get to work. By attracting global businesses to our local communities, this common sense legislation will help create well-paying jobs and strengthen our economy locally and throughout the country."
The initiative aims to help link local communities with international companies and investors who want to expand to the United States.
Ruiz's bill also includes accountability and transparency measures to create oversight of the SelectUSA initiative.
