INDIO, Calif. -

Indio police were investigating a deadly shooting Sunday after being called to a two vehicle car crash at Calhoun Street just north of Date Avenue.

The call at 2:45 p.m. was originally for a traffic collision, but officers found a man injured in a shooting.

Indio Police Department spokesman, Ben Guitron, said there appeared to have been some sort of confrontation and then one person was shot by another person in the other vehicle.

A suspect description was vague, police only saying a hispanic man fled the scene.  Police were still looking for him Sunday evening, but had no motive for the crime.

They did not know what connection he may have had to the original collision.

Indio police did not believe any Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival goers were involved.  It appeared to be local residents.
