PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

Medical marijuana shops in Palm Springs must post their city operating license on storefronts.

The City Council on Wednesday voted unanimously on an urgency ordinance requiring license postings to assure patients the pot dispensaries are operating legally.

The law, making it a misdemeanor for failure to post the license, is aimed at dispensaries that have opened without a city license to operate.

Palm Springs is the only city in the Coachella Valley to permit the sale of medical marijuana.
