Police were called to the 68800 block of Ramon Road around 4:05 A.M., where officers found a vehicle crashed into a Jiffy Lube. The driver was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, but was alive.

The man drove southbound from Avenida Del Padre, through a deserted lot, across Ramon Road and into the business as shots were being fired at him, police Sgt. C. De Veas said.

The driver's friends aided the man, but were uncooperative with the police investigation to identify any suspects involved in the shooting.

Police say there were also several other bullet holes into the windows of businesses next to the vehicle and west of it.

The man was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center and remains in critical condition. Cathedral City police are investigation whether the incident may be gang-related.
