About 30 Imperial Irrigation District energy employees will travel to the East Coast to help restore power in areas damaged by Hurricane Sandy, a district spokesman said today.
The district -- which provides electricity and water in the eastern
Coachella Valley and Imperial Valley -- is sending six line construction crews
to help replace power poles and restring wire. They expect to leave today,
possibly by military aircraft, and likely will be there about two weeks,
spokesman Robert Schettler said.
