Firefighters at Camp Pendleton are making progress against a 250-acre brushfire that erupted during training at the Southern California Marine base.

The base says the blaze is 80-percent contained Wednesday. No buildings have been damaged and there's no threat to surrounding communities.

The fire began Tuesday afternoon at a munitions range.
