PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -

Caltrans-related road closings starting today are expected to slow commutes across the Coachella Valley.

Westbound state Route 62 will be narrowed to one in each direction between the San Bernardino County line and North Indian Canyon Drive from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. today through Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol Officer Joe Zagorski.

Starting Thursday, state Route 74 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between Ribbonwood and Pinyon drives from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Zagorski said.

On Interstate 10, overnight work Friday through Monday will have the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes closed between Gene Autry Trail and Bob Hope Drive, he said.

Zagorski cautioned drivers to be on the lookout for big rigs merging left where the freeway narrows.
